Tyler Christopher Breaks his Silence

The longtime soap actor (General Hospital, Days of our Lives) talks for the first time since his firing from DAYS in 2019.

Dude I just watched that, I knew he hade been fired due to alcoholism (he was apparently carried out in a stretcher from the DOOL set) but I had no idea the shit he went through. Mo is right, I cannot believe the guy is still alive.

Hope the guy continues on the good path and eventually replaces his tree trump replacement on GH.

R2 he was in Days of our lives for a bit, played Stefan di Mera. Brandon Barash eventually replaced him before he was killed off.

R4 In the course of about 5 years he got fired from 2 shows after being drunk and had to be carried away in a stretcher from one of them, his wife left him, he lost custody of his kids, he lived homeless in skid row for about 2 weeks (and ate out of the garbage for 3 days), and suffered from alcohol withdrawal so badly he fell and hit his head and needed brain surgery where he needed rehabilitation to get his speech back.

He is sober and has been fore awhile, but let's hope it stays that way.

I remember when he was young and hot. I really wanted to see him and Jonathan Jackson turn into secret lovers.

I thought he was promising in the '90s, but his performances on GH got lazier and lazier through the years when he came back a few years later, having failed to get anything going in prime time and movies.

The thing is, there aren't that many soaps left, and he's burned bridges at two.

But whatever he ends up doing, I hope his recovery goes well. I haven't watched the interview, but I read about him going on the bender, passing out in the Uber and urinating all over the seat, trying to get into a stranger's car, and all that.

Sounds like a sad story of addiction and mental illness. At least he's gotten help and is in recovery.

I must admit that I am surprised, yet very relieved, that he has lived through this. He was in end stage alcoholism, imo. My best wishes to him.

In addition to all of the facts that R5 mentions, Tyler has Bipolar Disorder with mania. He was alone and going through delirium tremors (DTs) due to alcohol withdrawal. He fell and hit his head on the bathtub, cracking his skull.

He certainly seems to have been through the ringer, poor guy.
