Why did she become a thing?
Who did she blow?

Blame Leo and Marty for releasing her into the world. She showed her tits in The Wolf of Wall Street even though the nudity wasn't required. Personally, I'm shocked she's survived for so long with so many bombs. If Barbie flops, that should for all intents and purposes end her career.

The woman just came out of nowhere.
| by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 23, 2023 5:29 PM |
Just watched Babylon. WTF was that? She was dreadful.
| by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 23, 2023 5:36 PM |
Who DIDN'T I blow would be an easier question to answer.

Must be a slow troll day to rehash Robbie. What about the 6 other threads from 3 months ago?
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 23, 2023 5:41 PM |
Trolls are easily triggered. There were four or five threads on the 30 second Barbie Teaser Trailer. Full on meltdowns over a single still photo of Ryan Gosling as Ken. Poor snowflake babies gotta bray at something.

She was great as Tanya Harding.

I’m sure this thread will destroy her career.

Did anyone claimed it would?

Margot is fine and sends her love and some Invega Sustenna for OP.
| by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 23, 2023 6:17 PM |
Because she was excellent in 'The Wolf of Wall Street' and 'I, Tonya'.
Any more obvious questions?
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 23, 2023 6:22 PM |
R9 Agreed. I loved her as Tonya.
| by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 23, 2023 6:39 PM |
She did make a splash in a couple of movies, but I think the days of creating a decade-long 'it' girl are over. There will never be another Julia Roberts star type phenomenon.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 23, 2023 6:55 PM |
Beautiful, talented and funny - otherwise I don’t know, OP.
Why are you so obsessed?

HI, Margot!
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 23, 2023 7:31 PM |
I love Ryan Gosling. There.

She's neither.
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 23, 2023 7:37 PM |
Very capable actress--excellent, as other have said, in "I, Tonya"--who has been in a string of incredibly bad, bloated, overhyped movies: star vehicles in an age when Hollywood is still in a kind of pitiful denial that there are no stars anymore.
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 23, 2023 7:40 PM |
I agree she needs Barbie to be a hit to keep what little momentum she has left going. although previews make it look like fairly standard 'boss babe with stupid guy' movie.
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 23, 2023 7:42 PM |
I agree with other posters, she was excellent in I, Tonya. I'll be honest though, I haven't seen her in anything else because I wasn't (and haven't been) interested in anything else she's been in.
However, I will say I believe she suffers from overexposure syndrome. She was just in too much all at once, in my own opinion. I felt the same way about Jennifer Lawrence too, but hers was sort of over a longer period of time I feel.
Maybe she could just lay low for awhile and pick some indie projects that would showcase her talents/interests.
Just a suggestion.

I used to love Ryan Gosling years ago. Then he made numerous horrible movies like Lalaland and I have hated him ever since. You make too many bad ones and people don't forget or forgive.

They call her Maggot Robot behind her back on set.
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 23, 2023 8:08 PM |
There is only one Maggot in H'wood. Maggot Gyllenhaal. Fuck you, calling Margo that.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 23, 2023 8:13 PM |
She is a good actress but she doesn't have movie star charisma—which is fine, but the studios backing her movies continually try to market her as one. I enjoyed her a lot in "I, Tonya" and also liked "Babylon" and thought she was great in it (controversial opinion). I enjoy her onscreen but I do think the media has overblown her a lot. She'd be wise to go the character actor route.
| by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 23, 2023 8:16 PM |
She doesn’t always pick/fund the right projects but she’s fantastic at her best. I really like her as Harley Quinn.
| by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 23, 2023 8:24 PM |
She was "this year's blonde" in the Wolf of Wall Street - that was all the way back in 2013 - ten years ago. The Tonya Harding thing was in 2017 - six years ago.
Ten years, two roles that have been well-received and the rest of her attempts at stardom have bombed or simply disappeared without much of a trace left behind.
She needs a huge blockbuster hit, she needed it years ago. I don't think she's going to get one.
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 23, 2023 8:24 PM |
She is awful. Can’t act and is just a boring nothing.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 23, 2023 8:25 PM |
R30 K. You've shatted out your worthless opinion. Now you can fuck off.
| by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 23, 2023 8:28 PM |
She is a really dull and mediocre actress and an overrated “beauty”. One of the first to do the horrid buccal fat removal surgery which aged her by 15 years on the spot. Is constantly outacted by her male co-stars and can’t pick female lead movies for shit.
| by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 23, 2023 8:36 PM |
I can see why some find her appealing. On the other hand, who Adam Driver blew to become a movie star I would love to know.
| by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 23, 2023 8:46 PM |
R33 I’ve seen him on stage and he is an excellent actor. I don’t think he’s picked good films for the most part. His best screen role was in Girls.
| by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 23, 2023 8:48 PM |
I've never been a particularly big fan of Jennifer Lawrence, but she has more talent, more natural charisma, and a better track record of projects than Margot Robbie, and even she couldn't survive the overhype and media saturation which made everyone sick of her and eagerly waiting for her downfall. Robbie is on the same trajectory but with far less talent to fall back on.

Movie stardom is over. What has replaced it gives actresses and actors more longevity but fewer shots at unbelievable fame and fortune.
| by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 23, 2023 9:06 PM |
She’s pretty. People cast pretty if they have a modicum of talent over super talented and ok looks.
Like the Italian prostitute from White Lotus. She has now signed with WME and will star with another sexy star Sydney Sweeney in a new movie. They both can act fairly well but that’s not why they were cast.
The real talent from White Lotus was the hotel manager.
| by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 23, 2023 9:09 PM |
Sydney Sweeney is a wall-eyed whore.
| by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 23, 2023 9:13 PM |
I like her, too and I think she is gorgeous. She also seems like a good sport at times.

^ missed a comma after "too"
| by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 23, 2023 10:01 PM |
She has charisma and beauty to spare in person. Maybe it just isn’t translating to the screen. But I agree that we were seeing way too much of her there for a while.
| by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 23, 2023 10:04 PM |
was she born 1820 or why was she named Margot?
| by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 23, 2023 10:05 PM |
r43 Margot is a popular name in Australia

THAT'S who she looks like. It's been bothering me for a while. I couldn't remember that actress's name. All I remember is that she was big in the 90s and early 2000s.

She's not a good actress.

Huh? Without stardom your career dries up, unless you’re a character actor.

Hmm i wonder who's idea that was?

It doesn't look terrible on her. But Margot did look more youthful back in the Neighbours days.
