A false urban legend circulated that the show was far more popular in Korea due to Chachi being similar to a Korean word for penis.

One of the only 80s TV shows with a blank trivia section on IMDB.

Did you ever watch Joanie Loves Chachi?

Even as a kid (but a stickler for period authenticity), I was confused. HAPPY DAYS was set in the mid-to-late 50s, right? So why do Joanie and Chachi appear to have stepped out of a present-day suburban mall? The clothes, the hair...

This aggrieved gayling called BULLSHIT and changed the channel.

Will Baio sing the theme song to Trump at the RNC?

by Anonymousreply 3August 21, 2020 5:16 AM

I never saw it -OMG! What was the premise that suggested they sing?? She was meh, but he was truly awful!

by Anonymousreply 4August 21, 2020 5:25 AM

Joanie is reaching out from the grave to choke Chachi to death!

by Anonymousreply 5August 21, 2020 5:32 AM

And Dynamite loves them both!

No one would publicly admit they did, OP.

I watched when I was 8 years old and it was Dumb, Happy Days should have been canceled when Ron Howard left.

"Joanie Loves a Deplorable."

by Anonymousreply 9August 21, 2020 7:04 PM

Erin Moran was white trash if this was the best she could do.

I never thought they had any chemistry. A hot guy like him would date a so-so (at best) girl like her?

by Anonymousreply 11August 21, 2020 11:44 PM

They dated in real life for quite some time.

by Anonymousreply 12August 21, 2020 11:47 PM

I always thought Joanie was a lesbian, which made her pairing with Chachi unbelievable.

by Anonymousreply 13August 21, 2020 11:58 PM

R2, that was a problem with latter Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley, though.

80s hair and clothes, but 60s music (usually).

As I kid I remember thinking the theme song was so beautiful and romantic. Mary! I never really liked the show itself but I did watch it since it aired right after Happy Days.

The most untalented, annoying, and singularly ungainly girl in my Theatre cohort at Northwestern played the drummer in the band, so I could barely get through an episode. She has not gone on to have any kind of career as an actress, so it must have been the Garry Marshall NU to Hollywood pipeline that got her that far.

Will they be giving the DVDs away at the GOP convention?

by Anonymousreply 17August 22, 2020 2:12 AM

^This is what I come to Datalounge for: Winifred Freedman trivia.

ABC could put a test pattern on either side of [italic]Happy Days[/italic and [italic]Three's Company[/italic] and still win the night.

Joanie loved the Red Dolls.

by Anonymousreply 21August 22, 2020 2:27 AM

Chachi took the red pill.

by Anonymousreply 22August 22, 2020 2:28 AM

As a gayling I was so into Scott Baio. I am sad and disgusted with myself seeing how he turned out.

The Republicans have Chachi, but always remember - The Fonz is on our side.

by Anonymousreply 23August 22, 2020 2:35 AM

Whose side is Ralph Malph on?

by Anonymousreply 24August 22, 2020 2:37 AM

So Joanie lloved Chachee but did Chachee love Joanie?

by Anonymousreply 25August 22, 2020 2:38 AM

Scott Baio was my first celebrity sighting at Autorama in Detroit and it was like seeing a superstar.

Steve Bond was there too.
