The cop show Hunter with Fred Dryer and Stepfanie Kramer lasted until 1991. By 1991, Stepfanie Kramer had left the show after the sixth season. However, Darlanne Fluegel [RIP] and Lauren Lane were replacements as female cops. By the end of seventh season, Hunter was cancelled. What made the first six seasons of Hunter special?

As was stated upthread, the final casting for Sam and Diane on Cheers came down to Dryer and Ted Danson for Sam and Shelley Long and Julia Duffy for Diane, though I think that it was already understood that it would be either Danson and Long or Dryer and Duffy, no mix of the two pairings. The show would've been so much different as neither Duffy or Dryer project a modicum of vulnerability as performers, a quality that was essential to the success of Danson and Long's portrayals and ultimately the success of the show.
