Gap In-Store Playlists - Ever Evolving!

I kept the playlists in a small box. I had almost every Gap playlist from June 1992 through to February 2006 in it, as well as several from GapBody, GapKids and babyGap. I moved to a different place in Dallas in February 2006 and the playlists box was lost. It was a huge loss.

Even though I had started buying CDs of music on Gap playlists from my very first day at the Gap at Highland Park Village in Dallas on October 17, 1992, I had not started my planned project of amassing all or most of the songs on the playlists and then putting them into monthly folders on my iTunes. So, I had hundreds of Gap songs with only my memory to sort them. But my memory is very good and I sorted them about 85% correctly, comparing them now to where they actually were on the playlists.

In Spring 2010 is when I found about 20 Gap and GapKids playlists in the back of a CD folder case I have containing hundreds of CDs of Stevie Nicks Master Reels. These playlists were duplicates that I would just grab at whatever store I was at, just to make sure I had that month. I looked through those playlists and downloaded a few of the songs that I clearly remembered. And that was about it for awhile.

In Summer 2012, I had two actual Gap tapes from March 1997 and April 1997 that I had "saved" from my store at NorthPark in Dallas. Those were two of my favorites. That August of 2012, I found the tapeheads forum, asked for help, and someone transferred those two tapes to digital for me for free!

Listening to March and April 1997 again finally, I realized that the Gap playlists were complete entities that I loved, not piecemeal songs picked and chosen from individual playlists. So, that December 2012, I went through all of the 20+ playlists I had and downloaded all of the songs I didn't have and put them into folders on my iTunes. Even the GapKids playlists were appreciated because, as Visual Merchandising Manager, I was over the entire store, not just adult Gap, so I heard all of the songs in each box and remembered them well.

So, from January 2013 through to December 2015, I was thinking of the best ways to find other former Gap employees who might have saved the playlists from their own stores. I joined Datalounge in Summer 2015, and the wheels started turning. I created my blog and made it live on New Year's Eve 2015, which is also the date I made my first Gap In-Store Playlists thread here.

However, it took 13 months for another former Gap employee to contact me with his own copies of the playlists - but he did find me because of Datalounge! As have two others who have since shared with me.

I would still like to know other avenues to try. Remember: Gap and Mood Media have ZERO FILES of the playlists.
