Did anyone here belong to one in college?

What was it like?

by Anonymousreply 34November 18, 2020 1:01 AM

Yes. It was exactly like Fraternity X.

by Anonymousreply 1November 15, 2020 9:32 PM

It was 40 years ago. Full of lots of homoerotic circumstances, but also kind of homophobic. But I messed around a few times with a couple of my "brothers" (one was a state champion wrestler from Nebraska). For a shy guy still in the closet, I found it more fun than frustrating.

by Anonymousreply 2November 15, 2020 11:09 PM

I’ve never been in a fraternity but I’ve had some fraternity brothers in me.

by Anonymousreply 3November 15, 2020 11:36 PM

I was in one and it was good

But I was repressed, so I didn't do anything with the brothers or any other men in College

Later, I found out that some of the brothers who seemed the straightest were gay or bi - it kind of pissed me off - I felt as if I had missed the party

There are more gay men in fraternities than anyone would expect. We form strong emotional bonds. We give in when one of us wants to blow another. Back in the 80s, it was scary to come out, but of my chapter of 55 men, decades later, nine of us eventually revealed ourselves to be gay. The number of alums who volunteer and attend the annual conferences is shattering.

Personally, I blew five brothers who now have wives, children and even some grandchildren. That's almost 10% of the chapter. Two of them reciprocated. I still fantasize about some of them.

Who's axing y'all about blowing fratbros? Op is simply asking what it was like to be in one. You guys are sex addled. Get help.

by Anonymousreply 7November 16, 2020 1:16 AM

Yes. 1 girl claimed she was raped at a party. One brother gave a blow job to a passed out party guest who woke up mid suck and beat the shit out of him.

by Anonymousreply 8November 16, 2020 1:16 AM

Yeah. It was a hotbed of sexual repression. But the ones who seemed gay ended up with wives. And one hot butch guy ended up gay. Ugh, what could have been....

by Anonymousreply 9November 16, 2020 1:20 AM

Putting aside all the pent up sexuality or actual sexuality, was it worth it?

Did you feel bonds with your frat/sorority mates? Did it help you in later life?

by Anonymousreply 10November 16, 2020 1:21 AM

Animal House scared me away from fraternities. I never even went near the houses.

by Anonymousreply 11November 16, 2020 1:24 AM

I'd rather hear stories about getting it on with fellow frat brothers. Never joined a frat, which was probably a good move, since I probably would have been caught messing around with a fellow frat brother.

by Anonymousreply 12November 16, 2020 1:26 AM

I could make my own friends. Never interested in a fraternalty.

by Anonymousreply 13November 16, 2020 1:27 AM

"I'd rather hear stories about getting it on with fellow frat brothers."

Start your own thread then, R12.

I was in the one for the rich petty boys with huge cocks, OP. Envious? Ivy League. A blast. So much homo action, and such wonderful cars, sweaters and vacation homes all over the world. 3 of my brothers had family private jets. 1 had his own. He's the son of a Venezuelan billionaire and has a 9 inch cock I got to ride. In the jet, on the way to Salvador da Bahia for Spring Break. Ask me anything.

by Anonymousreply 15November 16, 2020 1:40 AM

i was at a very fratted-up college and my circle of boheme friends made a bit of a statement by not being in any. the fratboys were, for the most part, loud, privileged, aggressive assholes. one of us got beaten for no other reason than being a nonconformist. fuck 'em still, 40 years later.

by Anonymousreply 17November 16, 2020 1:57 AM

All I know about fraternities comes from Revenge of the Needs. Is it accurate?

by Anonymousreply 18November 16, 2020 2:08 AM

See, R17's experiences / opinions are more in line with mine. The frat boys I knew were all stereotypical, brain-dead, homophobic jocks who majored in Business and, I have NO doubt, grew up to be alcoholic Trumptards.

But times have changed at least a little, R7, and I'd be willing to bet fraternities today are probably crawling with gay boys. Sorta like entering a monastery: if not for the mansex, then what?

KAPPA ALPHA = REDNECK CENTRAL

by Anonymousreply 20November 16, 2020 2:10 AM

Sure I went to their parties, drank their beer and smoked their weed, but never ever thought about joining.

by Anonymousreply 21November 16, 2020 2:16 AM

No, not me, cuz I already had a personality.

by Anonymousreply 22November 16, 2020 2:21 AM

I was in a frat and enjoyed it for the first several years of college. My school had something like 12,000 students and joining the frat gave me an instant social group. Made a lot of friends. We weren't a snobby frat at all, we just wanted to have fun, which we did. Lots of good parties. However, by my senior year and once I graduated I was happy to move on in life.

by Anonymousreply 23November 16, 2020 2:35 AM

I wasn't interested in having anyone tell me what to do. It would've been hell, and the potential drunken hookups weren't worth the bullshit. Also, it was expensive and took up too much time.

by Anonymousreply 24November 16, 2020 2:41 AM

Are fraternity hazing rituals truly as brutal/embarrassing/horrific -- or (better yet) homoerotic as buzzed about?

by Anonymousreply 26November 16, 2020 2:53 AM

Fraternities were more popular with black students when I was in college 20 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 28November 16, 2020 4:15 AM

I was happy that the school I choose didn't have frats or sororities.

But in a way they kind of did. The upperclassmen dorms all had reputations. One was the hardcore drinking dorm. The others were for more serious students.

by Anonymousreply 29November 16, 2020 5:53 AM

Aren't there gay fraternities now?

by Anonymousreply 30November 16, 2020 7:58 PM

Gay men are pretty much accepted in most fraternities now

by Anonymousreply 31November 17, 2020 3:46 AM

I've heard that Sig Ep for years was the secret gay fraternity. Anyone know anything about this?

by Anonymousreply 32November 17, 2020 4:27 AM

I was in a fraternity. Loved it.. Best friends Daddy’s money could buy.. We had a blast. I am still close with several of my brothers... 40 years out. Several of us were gay, though we never talked about it in school... We did tend to be clones of each other.. which I didn’t notice until a highschool classmate of mine pointed it out to me at a mixer with her sorority (she said my fraternity was the worse one on campus for being 120 versions of the same (cute:) guy... It was true..

by Anonymousreply 33November 17, 2020 4:48 AM

Phi Delts at my campus (in the 80s) had to have a big bush or a big cock, or both, to be invited to join. I saw several of them at the recreation center. It was true, according to my observations.
