In Spring 1979, Casey Kasem read a letter from some doofus who wanted Cheryl to "Think It Over" and be his date to his Senior Prom.

She didn't go.

I had the 45 of it. Love Cheryls little bit of cleavage sticking out on the sleeve. It barely cracked the billboard top 40, but when I was 12 I thought it was the best song. Live and learn.

Ladd became a BIG recording start in Japan, She released FOUR albums and her music became the ending title sequence on Japan's "Charlies Angels" - She has made a great deal of money. She also was on Broadway for "Annie Get your Gun"

She's actually an OK singer. Nothing to write home about, but certainly not horrible. Brenda Russell herself was never a stellar vocalist, and her version isn't really any better than this.

I like the song, but it's kind of a strange choice for a single in 1978...somebody upthread mentioned that plonking piano, and that's the main thing that stands out about it. The tempo seems really odd. It's too slow to be considered mid-tempo, but that constant rhythmic piano keeps it from being a conventional, slow love ballad. It doesn't really sound like anything else that was a hit at the time.

Hey, If I remember correctly, Cheryl had a follow-up album. Which is more than be said for TV stars of that era that tried to release albums - Remember Philip Michael Thomas? I don't think even Don Johnson or Bruce Willis released 2 albums.

(BTW, thanks for reminding me of those horrific 80's days when both of these non-singing fuckers actually had hit songs on the radio! Bruce needed on of the Pointer Sisters to help him as he croaked his way through "Respect Yourself", and Don's putrid "Heartbeat" was simply one of the worst songs of the decade.)
