I always thought he was adorable in When Harry Met Sally. What a waist the man had! Any fans here?

Excited for the re-release of the above film in December. I'll be seeing it again!

My mother had a crush on his brother who was her art teacher in HS on Long Island.

yes, Billy hasn't forgotten his roots, I remember he donated 1 million a few years ago to Long Beach, there was a problem with the beach due to weather etc. They rebuilt the boardwalk.

R2, yes they are. Link below.

There is a difference between being cute and attractive. I don't think Billy Crystal is attractive in the traditional sort, but I do think he was kind of cute. One of my early gayling clues was Billy in Soap.

by Anonymousreply 7October 8, 2019 4:45 PM

Permed "jewfros" are never, ever attractive.

by Anonymousreply 8October 8, 2019 4:59 PM

I'm with R6. R8 Jewfros are usually naturally curly. Are you sure he received "permanents"?

by Anonymousreply 9October 8, 2019 5:23 PM

He looks like a mkoda fish wearing half a clown wig.

by Anonymousreply 10October 8, 2019 5:36 PM

No. Billy always looked like a middle aged Edward G. Robinson.

by Anonymousreply 11October 8, 2019 5:38 PM

I thought the idea of him being a romantic lead was HIGH-larious.

by Anonymousreply 12October 8, 2019 6:18 PM

I have always found him sexy, talented and funny.

by Anonymousreply 13October 8, 2019 6:37 PM

He was a decent actor and had good comic timing, but sexy? No.

by Anonymousreply 14October 8, 2019 6:39 PM

I think he was downright ugly.

He is hideous now.

by Anonymousreply 15October 9, 2019 1:49 AM

He's done very well for himself, considering he ain't much to look at.

by Anonymousreply 18October 9, 2019 6:11 AM

Not to me. As a young gayling I was always depressed that the gay guy on Soap wasn’t better looking. I wanted Ted Wass to be the gay one.

by Anonymousreply 19October 9, 2019 8:52 AM

I hated this film and both the leads and it was such a rip-off of Annie Hall - Woody should have sued. But he said he never saw it.

by Anonymousreply 20October 9, 2019 9:35 AM

He was hot in the 80s movie with Gregory hines. That was the only time I found him hot.

by Anonymousreply 21October 9, 2019 9:40 AM

Kind of cute. Not sexy. Sometime in the early '90s he really turned a corner and became ugly. Sorry, Billy, but it's true.

by Anonymousreply 22October 9, 2019 10:13 AM

He was definitely fuckable in this movie, and at no other time.

by Anonymousreply 23October 9, 2019 10:48 AM

Off topic, but Hines early death was sad. I had actually seen him walking down Hudson near Christopher not long before it. He appeared to be a happy man.

by Anonymousreply 24October 9, 2019 10:52 AM

He had a young James Franco look in that movie.

I see now that Hines died in LA after a year of battling liver cancer. I must have seen him sometime before his death then and my memory is playing a trick on me. I do remember it though. I was sitting outside a restaurant and thought when I saw him "What a handsome, energetic man." When I read he had died I immediately thought of that image.

by Anonymousreply 26October 9, 2019 11:03 AM

He was cute enough with the beard. It’s always struck me as odd in the movie when Sally compliments his clean shaven look, because he isn’t nearly as cute without the facial hair.

by Anonymousreply 27October 9, 2019 11:29 AM

He turned into an anti-gay bigot.

by Anonymousreply 28October 9, 2019 12:34 PM

Post a link, R28. Secular Jews like Crystal tend to be pretty liberal.

by Anonymousreply 29October 9, 2019 2:24 PM

Not seeing it. Not remembering anyone seeing him as cute or sexy. He was funny, seemed nice, also seemed sexless. Not getting the appeal.

by Anonymousreply 30October 9, 2019 3:14 PM

I always confuse him with Michael Keaton for some reason. Can't tell them apart.

by Anonymousreply 31October 9, 2019 4:20 PM

R28 in an interview he complained that gay people were shoving our sexuality down TV viewers throat. He was tremendously offended at how brazen gay sex is depicted on TV and missed the days of virginal chaste Jody on SOAP.

And his clarification was even worse:

[quote]"First of all, I don’t understand why there would be anything offensive that I said. When it gets too far either visually…now, that world exists because it does for the hetero world, it exists, and I don’t want to see that either. But when I feel it’s a cause, when I feel it’s “You’re going to like my lifestyle,” no matter what it is, I’m going to have a problem and there were a couple of shows I went ‘I couldn’t watch that with somebody else.” That’s fine. If whoever writes it or produces it…totally get it. It’s all about personal taste...We live in a very scary time in many ways. You can’t say this, you can’t say that, you can’t offend this group, that group. People come up to you and ask if you were offended. I don’t understand that. I understand it why everyone is watching out for the other person. That’s offensive to me."

He was gorgeous when he was young. Hot, smart, witty Jewish man. With those juicy lips you could just suck on for hours. I bet he was a hairy bear as well.

by Anonymousreply 34October 9, 2019 6:22 PM

His "clarification" at R33 is incoherent. Is he in the throes of dementia?
