I was watching the British show “Takin’ Over The Asylum” and I didn’t realize how fine Angus MacFadyen was when he was young.

I also didn’t realize he dated Catherine Zeta-Jones or was in “The Lost Language of the Cranes.”

Is he related to Matthew Macfadyen?

^^^imdb doesn’t say anything about them being related. But both have Scottish ancestry so they may be from the same clan.

Played Robert the Bruce in Braveheart.

I've only heard of him from that 2002 film Equilibrium with Christian Bale

Played Richard Burton in a Liz Taylor tv biopic. Unfortunately, by that time he was already porking up.

He used to be very handsome, but now he's not.

And he's a deranged blood and soil nationalist. The SNP is too mainstream for him so he's joined new party Alba set up by former First Minister Alex Salmond, who bullied and harassed female staff so badly as First Minister women weren't allowed to work on their own in government premises when he was around. The same Alex Salmond who until last week had a show on Putin propaganda "news" channel Russia Today.

He wrote and produced a film about Robert The Bruce in which he starred again. One of the cinema chains decided not to show it for commercial reasons. i.e. they could make a lot more money from putting Toy Story 4 on another screen, so rabid Scottish nationalists threatened a boycott of the cinema chain.
